    About Our Process

If you’re interested in getting a new hardwood floor or restoring your current one, there are a few steps that we have to take.

    - First, we offer free in-home estimates of how much it will cost to replace or refinish your floor.  Just give us a call at the number listed at the bottom of this page, and we’ll be happy to arrange a time to come by that fits your schedule.  We’ll come to your home or business and discuss all of the factors that go into your quote, including the type of wood you’d like to use or refinish, the size of the room(s), timing for the project, etc.  Once we’ve covered all the details, we can give you an accurate estimate on how much it will cost to refinish your hardwood floors, or to install new ones.

    - The second step is scheduling the project.  With a floor installation or refinishing, it’s generally best if you’re out of the house during the actual work, both for the ease of completion and to avoid breathing in any chemicals or dust from the installation or finishing products.  The amount of time needed for the project will depend upon the size of your floor; it could take as little as a couple days, or we might need up to a week or more to ensure that everything is just right.  That being said, we’ll work with you to decide on a time that works best.

    - Third, we’ll make sure that your home is properly prepared for your new floors.  We’ll identify any possible trouble areas (i.e. areas prone to high moisture, heavy traffic, etc.) and make adjustments to ensure that your floor enjoys the longest life possible.  We will need the wood to be stored in your home for at least a week beforehand to allow the materials to properly acclimatize to the environment in your home (temperature, humidity levels, etc.).

Before we actually begin on the project, all furniture will need to be moved out of the room(s).  Don’t worry about the mess; we’ll be careful to cover any doors, windows, molding, etc. in order to ensure that there is as little dust, etc. spread around as possible.
